President
Deanne Curnew BN, MN, RN
Deanne is a student in the PhD in Nursing program at Memorial University in St. John's, NL. Her PhD research will examine the contributions of Canadian undergraduate nursing education to Registered Nurses' preparedness to practice within primary care settings.
Deanne has been a Registered Nurse for 14+ years and has a variety of practice experience in medical-surgical and community health settings and nursing education. She currently works as a Nurse Educator at the Centre for Nursing Studies in St. John's, NL. Deanne is passionate about aligning undergraduate nursing education with population health needs and priorities within sustainable health systems and care delivery models.
In her free time, Deanne loves hiking and exploring with her family in her beautiful home province of NL.

Suzanne Braithwaite BScN, MNsc, RN, CCHC(c)
Suzanne is a registered nurse with a specialty certification in community health nursing. Suzanne currently teaches at Trent University in the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing. She also has extensive experience practicing as a primary care registered nurse at a Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in Ontario. Suzanne is passionate about supporting registered nurses to enact their full scope of practice in the primary care setting. She completed her Masters degree in Nursing at Queen’s University where she revised and validated a tool to measure nursing scope of practice enactment in the primary care setting. Suzanne is currently completing doctoral studies at Queen’s University and her dissertation work is focused on exploring the attributes of the nursing care organization that influence registered nurse contributions to well-child care in primary care.

Crystal is currently a doctoral student at Memorial University of Newfoundland completing research in the area of virtual nursing practice in primary care in Canada. Her clinical experience as a community health nurse in remote communites of Nunavut, providing primary care services to Indigenous populations; and as a Virtual Public Health Nurse have been helpful in her studies and current advocacy role with the CFPNA. Crystal looks forward to building primary care nursing at a national level!

Anaelle est une infirmière clinicienne francophone établie dans la province de Québec. Elle a complété son baccalauréat en sciences infirmières à l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Elle a ensuite poursuivi des études de maîtrise de recherche portant sur l’engagement des patients en soins primaires. Elle est actuellement candidate au doctorat en sciences de la santé à l’Université de Sherbrooke.Ses travaux s’inscrivent principalement dans l’amélioration de la pratique infirmière en soins primaires et dans la psychométrie des outils de mesure. Sur le plan clinique, elle a exercé à Info-Santé (soins virtuels de première ligne), à l’urgence ainsi qu’en centre d’hébergement pour personnes âgées. Elle contribue activement à divers projets de recherche et d’amélioration des pratiques visant le renforcement des soins de première ligne.

Clinically, she has worked in Info-Santé (virtual frontline care), emergency departments, and long-term care facilities. She is actively involved in several research and practice-improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening primary care services.

Thea Daigle
Thea is an NP student attending the Université de Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick. She
has been a Registered Nurse for 17 years with a background in medical/surgical nursing, ER and
post-anesthesia. She currently works as a Critical Care Flight Nurse with Ambulance New
Brunswick. Thea has also recently accepted a role as a Flight Training Nurse that will help feed
her interest in providing ongoing education to her peers and future Flight Nurses and Flight
Advanced Care Paramedics. In addition, she works as a Care Coordinator with New Brunswick
Health Link, a program that ensures delivery of primary care to orphaned New Brunswick
patients who are currently awaiting placement with a Primary Care Provider. Finally, she is also
nurturing her interest in research as a research assistant to one of her master’s program
professors. Thea is pleased to have accepted the role as Student Rep with the CFPNA to help
further her own knowledge in primary care nursing and help her enrich her future role as an NP.
